POP3 Email Configuration

Virtual POP3 accounts for your Virtual Domain can be very easily configured using the console utility.

What is a pop3 account?
There are two kinds of email addresses, email forwarding addresses ( virtual email) and email addresses that actually store mail messages as files on a server ( a pop3 account). For example, if you send a message to your virtual address my@mydomain.com that forwards mail to the pop3 account you have with your ISP, xyz@xyz.net, the actual message sent to me@mydomain.com would be invisibly rerouted to xyz.net's server, where you would retrieve it using your xyz@xyz.net account. Thus, a forwarding address just passes mail on to a destination pop3 account, while a pop3 account actually stores mail.

In order to configure additional pop3 accounts:

1)    Print out a copy of this page.
2)    Go to your account console - http://yourdomain.xxx/console
3)    Click on the "POP3 Accounts" link.

After choosing the "POP3" option on the console menu, you'll be presented with a screen that looks similar to below:

@yourdomain.com Password

Simply fill in the appropriate information and submit the form to update your virtual pop3 accounts..

As you can see, you should enter the account name without the @mydomain.com. Click on the Change button at the bottom of the page to update your pop accounts. The new account configuration will be updated on an hourly basis. After you send mail to your new pop account you can retrieve it using your favorite mail client.

When you connect to the mail server to retrieve your mail, your email client configuration will be:

Incoming Mailserver: yourdomain.com
Username: webmaster
Password: anotherpassword

Where yourdomain.com is your real virtual domain name, the username and the password are real values from your pop3 configuration above.

Note: The mail server may take up to 1 hr to complete your changes.
